Andalusian Stallion:Meet Ricco

Filed under:

When I saw the fabulous photos taken by astaryth of the Andalusian stallion Ricoo, featured on her journal, Adventures of an Eclectic Mind, it was love at first sight.

Sired by an award winning stud, astaryth describes him as a horse who “doesn’t want you to forget it. While he is sweet and gentle, he just radiates attitude” and adds “that he can be a handful at times.”

Samsung unveils latest Series 6 Touch of Color LCD HDTVs

Filed under: , ,

Samsung treated us to a few new HDTV lineups just last week, but apparently one of the fresh families managed to slip through the cracks. The all new Series 6 — not to be confused with the widely available 650 Series — consists of the 40-inch LN40A630, 46-inch LN46A630, and the 52-inch LN52A630. Each set provides a 1080p panel, 120Hz technology, the outfit’s Touch of Color bezel design, three HDMI 1.3 ports and a USB socket for accessing digital photos and the like. Expect the trifecta to ship sometime next month for $1,699.99, $2,099.99, and $2,699.99, respectively.

Message Boards: Updated Layout for Greater Usability

Filed under: , , ,

Hey folks,

The Message Boards product team informed me that they will be deploying an update to the Boards product tonight. This will bring significant changes to the layout of the page. Many of you will probably enjoy these changes since it also adds more usability to the product overall.

The new layout will boast a wider 980-pixel wide format. (To get an idea of what that looks like, check out AOL People Connection or AOL Money.) Also, they will move the Message Board Search from the bottom of the page, to the right side of the boards.

On smaller note, for channels that don’t have a newer header, the team will provide a default, “AOL Message Boards” branded one, so it should look nice no matter what board you’re on.

The team anticipates that between midnight (tonight) and 4AM tomorrow, the boards will be updated. Let us know how it goes and what you think of these changes in the comments below.

[Update: 12/5, 10:01AM] At this time it appears that the board servers are not accessible. We’ve notified the board team and they are investigating it and should be back up shortly.

[Update: 12/5, 11:18AM] Board update complete. Took a little bit for all the servers to be updated, but the team and I confirm that the boards are now functioning and have been updated. :-)

~ Joseph

Slashfood Ate (8): Gourmet coffee at home

Filed under: , ,

This recent post about Starbucks - as with most posts about Starbucks - caused the typical coffee cacophony over price and quality. Although I happen to like Starbucks just fine, I certainly appreciate a good homemade cup. Unfortunately, quality espresso machines are pricey and people rarely use them enough to meet their ROI (’Fess up: How many of you have a schmancy DeLonghi at home, but still go to Starbucks every day?). As a veteran barista (of both indie and corporate coffeehouses), I’ve come up with a stock of supplies to help make gourmet coffee at home.

Espresso drinks:

  • Moka pot (like this one from Bialetti): Many Italians still brew their espresso the old-fashioned way — on the stovetop. The pot steeps espresso grounds in boiling water until the bubbles force the creamy coffee into the top of the Moka. Pour it out, and there’s your shot.
  • Milk Frother (like this one from Aerolatte): This bad boy has a high-speed whisker that whips any kind of milk into foamy shape. (For a cappuccino, use half steamed milk/half foam; for a latte, use mainly steamed milk, with a layer of foam on top).

Slutwife Sex Story The Hook Up

Slutwife Sex Story The Hook Up

I had been writing a married woman who
was a few years older, but I like them older. After a few days of
exchanging letters and pictures we decided to meet for drinks, and see
what happened from there. While at the bar we talked and hit it off
well. She told me about how she fantasized about me licking her pussy
and fucking her. I told her I had a surprise for her. We paid the bill
and left to a hotel room I had gotten just in case. Once we were alone
in the elevator I pinned her against the wall and told her how hot she
made me and I kissed her, slowly moving to her neck sucking and licking

iPhone 101: Geocaching with an iPhone 3G

Filed under: , ,

digg_url = ‘http://www.tuaw.com/2008/07/19/iphone-101-geocaching-with-an-iphone-3g/’;

Geocaching.com
Geocaching is a sport / hobby in which you wander about with a GPS and try to find caches, small hidden containers with swag and a logbook inside. One of the first things I looked for in the App Store was a geocaching application that would let me a) look up caches near my present location, b) tell me when I’m getting close, and c) let me log my finds on Geocaching.com.

Well, nothing is available yet. But don’t let that stop you from going out and doing a little cache hunting! See how you can go caching with nothing more than an iPhone 3G in your hand after the break.

As They Say In Community, It’s Never Really Goodbye…

Filed under: , , , ,

After nine years and three months, today is my last day at AOL. It’s been a wild ride, lots of fun, and a tremendous learning experience. Besides working with such great folks, where else could one have the opportunity to run such a large community operation and get to know some of the most interesting, savvy, and committed community members in the world? I will miss you, more than you know.

But… other opportunities, both personal and professional have been calling and the time is right for me to move on.

My AOL e-mail box will not work after today, so if you want to stay in touch, feel free to write to NYMeng@aol.com. You can also keep track of my daily activities by reading Hummingbird Mind.

Before you ask what I’ll do with myself, I have some plans. Here’s just a short list:

* Sleep
* Exercise
* Read
* Play with my new granddaughter
* Fish with my father
* Walk the beach
* Focus on the youth oriented non profit I started last year with some other parents
* Take many road trips
* Complete a book I’ve been writing

That’s just a start. I plan to take off at least a month before starting some consulting work I’ve been offered.

I’ll also still visit AOL communities, so if you see me online, feel free to ping me.

It’s not goodbye, it’s so long and see you soon.

-Nancie

P.S. Be good!

E308: Castlevania (aka Shanoa the vampire slayer)

Filed under:

Those of you who want to get to know Shanoa a little better should check out the vid up top, which features her kicking some undead butt. She might not bring too many new things to the Castlevania-verse, but she still looks like a pretty badass character. Besides, she “shall become the sword that clears away evil” — what more do you want?

Order of Ecclesia
is currently one of our most anticipated DS games, though, so do we really need another reason to convince you to watch this trailer? Just look at the footage.

EU slaps Intel with three more antitrust charges

Filed under:

Man, the EU is really not too fond of Intel, is it? Adding to all the other antitrust charges filed against the chipmaker, the friendly grey suits at the European Commission have slapped on an additional three: paying a “leading European retailer” not stock AMD products, giving incentives to PC makers to switch to Intel chips, and paying an unspecified company to delay the launch of an AMD-based product. For its part, Intel is reacting like it always does when the Europeans get prickly: by steadfastly denying everything. Intel has eight weeks to file a formal response, but as with all of these cases, we wouldn’t expect a resolution any time soon.

[Thanks, Ricky]
